Laker FFA History
The Laker FFA has had a very rich history since it began. The Pigeon FFA was chartered in 1934 and the Elkton FFA was chartered in 1936. The current Laker FFA was chartered in 1960. The Laker Chapter has received nine National Chapter awards along with thirty-six State Chapter awards. The local community has been awarded twenty-six American FFA Degrees. There have been two National Awards in Leadership contest, as well as six National Awards in Ag Skills contests.
Over the years there have been a total of twenty-six State FFA Officers, including the current two for 2009-10. There have been eight Michigan FFA State Stars. The local community has had seven hundred seventy three, State FFA Degrees Awarded. There have been fifty-seven State Proficiency Awards awarded with elevan of those being State Winners. In leadership contest there have been sixty-eight State Awards with seven State winners. In Ag skills contest there have been one hundred thirty-three State Awards with thirty-one State Winners and nine-teen Runner-up Winners. There have also been one hundred twenty one, Outstanding Junior Awards received.
In summary the local community has had one of the best FFA Chapters in the State of Michigan since they were chartered in the mid-thirties.
